The Charlotte Hornets and Detroit Pistons were tied at 106 as Hornets point guard Kemba Walker drove towards the rim with about five seconds left in the game. He passed out to Jeremy Lamb on the wing, and while the pass was a little off target, Lamb corralled it with his right hand, settled himself just inside the 3-point line and splashed it through with under a second left:

The Hornets were a bit premature with their celebration, resulting in a technical foul for too many men on the court. The Pistons knocked down the technical free throw but couldn't do anything with the 0.3 seconds left on the clock, much to the delight of Hornets owner Michael Jordan.

Charlotte raised its record to over .500 at 14-13 while pulling a half game ahead of its conference rivals in the standings. The Hornets are currently the six seed, while etroit is the seven seed at 13-13.

Lamb ended the night with 13 points, two assists and four rebounds in 35 minutes. Walker led all scorers with 31 points to go along with an a game-high nine assists. Blake Griffin was second in both these categories with 26 points and seven assists.

Lamb is posting career highs in points, steals and rebounds this season, with 15.1, 1.3 and 5.6, respectively. It's the 26-year-old guard's fourth season with Charlotte. Drafted by the Houston Rockets with the 12th overall pick in the 2012 draft, Lamb was traded to Oklahoma City before ever playing for Houston along with Kevin Martin, two first-round picks and a second round pick in the infamous James Harden trade.

In three years with OKC, Lamb averaged less than 20 minutes a game and never more than 8.5 points per game. He was traded to Charlotte in 2015 for Luke Ridinour and a second-round pick.

On Friday, the Hornets will host the New York Knicks.
