The Houston Rockets appear to be taking a page out of the Los Angeles Lakers’ book. A day after playing the role of the spoiler to Andre Ingram and the Lakers at Staples Center, the Rockets reportedly is close to signing guard Aaron Jackson for the remainder of the season, according to Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports.

The Houston Rockets are planning to sign guard Aaron Jackson — who has starred in China and Europe — for the remainder of the season, league sources tell Yahoo.

This comes after the Lakers created a late-season feel-good story by inking 32-year-old Ingram, a 10-year veteran in the minors, a 10-day contract to live out his NBA dream. Unlike Ingram, though, Aaron Jackson is expected to be part of the team beyond Thursday, the last day of the regular season.

Jackson, a 31-year-old guard, has zero NBA experience. He played his last seven season abroad playing in Europe and China. He most recently suited up for the Beijing Ducks in the Chinese Basketball League in 2017.

Jackson’s signing could also be to fill a spot on the Rockets’ roster which has been temporarily vacated by forward Luc Mbah a Moute, who is expected to miss the first round of the playoffs because of a shoulder injury he sustained in the Lakers game.

Once signed, Jackson will have a chance to play in the Rockets’ regular-season finale against the Sacramento Kings this Wednesday on the road.
