What is the final season about?
Young Sheldon's final season began with Sheldon's (Iain Armitage) summer abroad in Germany with Mary (Zoe Perry). It also deals heavily with the lasting ramifications of the tornado that occurred in the Season 6 finale.
Towards the end of Season 7, Sheldon faces a big decision. He has to commit to graduate school. In last week's episodes, Mary and George are approached by several Ivy League schools. Ultimately, he decides to commit to Caltech.
The final episodes will have to cover a lot of ground. George's funeral will likely be depicted. Sheldon's move to Caltech could also be shown in the final episodes.
Also, Young Sheldon has launched a spin-off of its own. Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage will debut this fall. It's likely that its parent show will want to segue right into the new series.
In the spin-off, Montana Jordan and Emily Osment will reprise their roles of Georgie and Mandy, respectively. After giving birth to their daughter, the two get married at the courthouse. As the title suggests, the new spin-off will depict their early marriage and perhaps its downfall.

Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro co-created the prequel.
Jim Parsons made the role of Sheldon Cooper iconic on The Big Bang Theory from 2007-19. However, Iain Armitage took over the role in the prequel series for seven seasons. Zoe Perry, Lance Barber, Raegan Revord, and Annie Potts have starred in all seven seasons.
While Armitage took over the role of Sheldon in the prequel series, Parsons is still involved. He serves as the voiceover narrator of the prequel series. However, he will make his on-screen return in the finale. He will appear alongside fellow Big Bang Theory alum Mayim Bialik in the finale.
