During last weekend’s Big3 leg in Philadelphia, the most anticipated game was the last one, with Allen Iverson expected to see action for the 3’s Company. The Answer rose to fame and became a household name when he starred for the 76ers back in the late 90s and early 2000s, and the Philly faithful anticipated their chance to see him playing competitive basketball again, and inside the Wells Fargo Center.
However, his fans were left disappointed as he did not see action for a single minute during the game, as he was apparently asked by doctors to stay in bed for being under the weather. He posted a video on his Instagram account to assure his fans he will be there to coach his team. Iverson stayed true to his word and still made it to the arena for his supporters have some interaction with him.
“To all my fans out there, based on advice from my doctor, I will not be playing in the game tonight for the BIG3. I will be there to coach my team and beat Dr. J’s team, I will be interacting with all my fans, and we’ll have a great time and see some great basketball. I love you fans for supporting me all of the years up to date, and I’ll see you when I get there.”

The league’s founder, Ice Cube, took to Twitter to apologize to the fans and also made sure they know that the former NBA MVP is also saddened with what had transpired.
A.I. not playing was disappointing to everybody, including myself. Doctors told him not to get out of bed and he came anyway. Sad but true.

For what it’s worth, Iverson’s fans were still delighted to see him inside the building where he played the best basketball of his life. Although they wished they saw him play, his mere presence was already enough to draw a lot of cheers, and for them to reminisce the good memories he brought to the franchise.
