After 20 seasons in the NBA, Kobe Bryant walked away from the game of basketball in 2016 as a five-time NBA champion and arguably the greatest player to come through the Los Angeles Lakers organization.

Regardless of Bryant's claim that he doesn't miss the game in retirement and has no desire to play professionally again, the future Hall of Famer remains a hot topic when it comes to whether he may give Ice Cube's BIG3 League a try at some point.

Although all signs point to the former Lakers superstar staying retired while pursuing other ventures, Cube wants the soon-to-be 39-year-old join the BIG3. The rap icon hopes Kobe's competitive drive while spark a desire to return to the game, transcription via Larry Brown Sports.

“I hope his competitive juices get to itching him and he wants to come into the league, score 50 and win the game. We hope he’ll play one day,” Ice Cube said via TMZ. “We expect to have big names next year and hopefully Kobe will be one of them.”

Bryant coming out of retirement to play in the BIG3 might be a stretch considering his current mindset. The future Hall of Famer seems content being away from the game and building up his company, Kobe Inc. Also, he doesn't appear to be in game shape nor overly concerned about his expanding waistline as he made clear in a recent Instagram post.

In an interview with ClutchPoints, BIG3 star Rashad McCants talked about whether he sees Bryant playing in the league and believes Kobe's recent Instagram picture might be an indication that he's enjoying retirement.

Basketball may be the furthest thing from Kobe's mind at this point, but that can quickly change if he gets that itch as Cube hopes he will.
