The Indianapolis Colts for the past few years haven't had a great secondary. Their front seven was always pretty solid, but their depth at the cornerback and safety spots were lacking.

This past season, it took until halfway through the season to solidify their team as a whole. They won seven out of their last eight games and won four straight. From Weeks 4-12, Andrew Luck threw three or more touchdown passes in eight straight games. That was the longest streak in the league this past season and tied for the second-longest in the history of the NFL itself.

The Colts come into this offseason with the most money to spend out of any team. They have an estimated cap space of $109 million. This gives them the flexibility to add on to both sides of the ball. However, they need to address a position defensively that they haven't had quality production from for some time. That position would be their nickel cornerback.

Pro Football Focus ranked their defense 15th overall coming out of last season. However, they hardly had any cap space accounting for defensive backs. Only $11.2 million are a cap hit from the secondary. The best defensive backs on some teams make more than that in a year.

Their cap flexibility should be able to let them acquire the exact players they want. They have money. They just have to pull the trigger.

Callahan is a fourth-year nickelback that has played the entirety of his career with the Chicago Bears. With his contract expiring, the team may let him go and move onto resigning their other core players.

He was an unheralded member of the Bears last season. Their defense led the entire league in takeaways and points off of takeaways. Through 13 games he had two interceptions, six pass deflections, two sacks, six forced fumbles, and 45 total tackles. He was everywhere for Chicago, and when he wasn't active in the playoffs, it really hurt their defense.

The Colts will be adding multiple players to their roster this summer. Adding an elite specialty player like Callahan is a must, especially since Indianapolis has the resources to acquire whoever they like.
