The news keeps coming on Thursday with MLB trades running wild. However, this time, it is unfortunate news regarding the Cleveland Indians. As reported by Mandy Bell of MLB.com, Indians manager Terry Francona is stepping away for the remainder of the season due to health concerns.
Indians manager Terry Francona will be taking a leave of absence for the remainder of the 2021 season to focus on his health. DeMarlo Hale will serve as acting manager.

Indians bench coach DeMarlo Hale will take over in the meantime and this is a stunning development regarding the Indians manager, who has a long road to recovery on the way.
Tito will have his left hip replaced on Monday. Five or six weeks after that he'll have a permanent rod put in his foot (from the staph infection) to start that healing process.

Hopefully everything goes well for Terry Francona, and there is a good chance he doesn't return for the 2022 MLB season depending on how everything shapes out. The Indians are far away from the Chicago White Sox in the race for the American League Central division crown.
Francona's time with Indians has been a good one overall, as he helped lead them to a World Series. His managerial resume is indeed impressive, with a couple of World Series titles from his time with the Boston Red Sox.
Francona has been around for a long time and has done a terrific job everywhere he has worked, and the future remains uncertain for the Indians manager in what could possibly be the end of his career. Get well soon, Terry Francona!
