It has been a disappointing season for Chicago Bears quarterback Mitchell Trusbisky. There were some analysts that picked him to be the 2019 NFL MVP but so far this season, he has shown a troubling lack of development in his abilities at times.

There was progress displayed from Trubisky during the Bears' 20-13 win over the Detroit Lions in Week 10. He completed 69.6% of his 23 pass attempts and that translated to 173 passing yards and 3 passing touchdowns. While he didn't rack up a ton of yards, it was positive to see him tie his season-high for touchdown passes after coming up with none in consecutive weeks.

Despite failing to throw for a touchdown in four of the nine performances that he played start to finish this season, Trubisky has remained confident in himself. He attributed his love for the game and the team sticking together with being key in him turning his performance around. Regardless of if his display was a ‘breakthrough' or not, he's happy with getting the win.

“When you go through tough things,” said Trubisky, via the team's official website. “I think you've just got to remember why you play this game. You just love to play this game, and you love the guys you play with. That'll get you through anything, and just continue to stick together, feed off your teammates, and believe that you're going to have a breakthrough, and whether you describe today as a breakthrough or not, we got the win.”

One of the critical differences for Trubsiky that contributed to his positive performance against the Lions was the team's offense playing at a faster pace. Having the call come in fast and not subbing in and out a lot of players allowed for the team to play at a higher tempo and to not overthink on the field.

“I think when the call is coming fast, and we have the right personnel in the huddle, and we're not substituting a bunch of guys, we're able to play fast,” said Trubisky. “I think that's when we're not thinking as much. We just go out there, execute the plays and guys are in the right spot at the right time, and we're just out there making plays.”

The importance of Trubisky maintaining a positive ‘body demeanor' and having strong ‘communication with teammates on the sidelines. His teammates feed off what he provides beyond throwing the football.

“I think the guys feed off how I react,” said Trubisky, “my body demeanor and everything like that, and just communicating on the sidelines. Letting the guys know we're close.”

If Trubisky is beginning to turn the proverbial corner, his next chance to show it will be in Week 11 when the Bears face off with the Los Angeles Rams at the L.A. Memorial Coliseum.
