The NBA announced on Wednesday via its executive vice president of basketball operations, Kiki VanDeWeghe, that Boston Celtics point guard Isaiah Thomas will receive a $25,000 fine.

This comes after he was heard directing inappropriate language toward a fan inside the Verizon Center during their Game 3 loss in their Eastern Conference semifinals matchup against the Washington Wizards. A heckling fan had some choice words for the 28-year-old Washington product, and he fired back with some expletives, saying “I will f— you up, and you know that.”

Despite his excellence on the court, Thomas has been known to being vulnerable to incidents such as these, which hurts his pockets, and his image as well. However, it can't be denied that he is one of the best players in the NBA today, and is playing at a very high level once again in this year's playoffs. He is currently averaging 25.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 1.1 steals per game.

With Game 5 to be played on Wednesday night, the Boston faithful are hoping the fine slapped on him will not be a distraction to him but rather serve as a motivation to play harder. If he does, he can lead his team to a big win on the night, and take them a step closer to advancing to the conference finals.
