Gerald Green has always had the athletic gifts to do just about anything on a basketball court. He hasn't always found the perfect fit, but he's still developed into a pretty consistent player in this league.

After a season with the Miami Heat, Green signed a one-year, veteran minimum deal with the team that drafted him, the Boston Celtics, this summer.

Green was a player who came straight out of high school back in 2005 and he only played two seasons with the Celtics before being shipped to the Minnesota Timberwolves as part of the trade for Kevin Garnett.

Now, Green is returning and his new point guard, Isaiah Thomas, is excited that the franchise has him back.

“Man, he’s gonna help us out,” Thomas told reporters Friday while at a revitalization project for a school in East Boston. “He can shoot the ball, he’s athletic — something we don’t really have, a knockdown shooter and someone that can create for himself. When we played in Phoenix together, it was tough because we played so well together and they had two other guards that were pretty good as well. I’m excited to get things going and he’s been here before so it’s nothing new for him. I know he’s gonna help us and I know he’s excited.”

Thomas and Green played together with the 2014-15 Suns on a team that had too many guards. The fit may be better in Boston where Green can step in and help fill the void left by Evan Turner.

Thomas developed into an All-Star last season and one of the best scoring point guards in the league despite his tiny frame. Adding another exciting and athletic wing next to him could make for a good combination next season.
