Former All-NBA point guard Isaiah Thomas has been trying to get back into the NBA for quite a while now. The two-time All-Star looks to be inching closer to his NBA comeback after he committed to play for Team USA in the upcoming AmericaCup qualifying tournament in February, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

This will certainly be a huge opportunity for the former Boston Celtics star as he once again tries to showcase himself for another shot at the NBA. The 5-foot-9 guard has been fielding his audition tape to NBA teams during the off-season. Isaiah Thomas, who turns 32 next week, claimed he finally feels healthy after going through injury-riddled campaigns following his career year with the Celtics in the 2016-17 season.

Thomas last played in the NBA in the 2019-20 season as a member of the Washington Wizards. He played 40 games in Washington, starting in 37 of them while turning in mild averages of 12.2 points and 3.7 assists. Though healthy enough to play, Thomas certainly didn't have the explosiveness that he previously had when he played with the Boston Celtics.

Isaiah Thomas was then dealt to the Los Angeles Clippers at the trade deadline. However, the Clips didn't hold on to him, as they eventually waived the former 60th overall pick.

In his prime, Thomas was one of the elite scorers in the NBA. His apex form saw him average 28.9 points per game, good for third across the entire Association, during his career season. He also led Boston to the no. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference that season, while earning the moniker “King of the Fourth” due to his knack for turning up the heat in the clutch.

Hopefully, Isaiah Thomas can make a statement with Team USA and earn himself a shot in the association once again.
