After signing in the G League to play in its upcoming showcase, Isaiah Thomas has officially joined a team: the Denver Nuggets' affiliate Grand Rapids Gold.

The Grand Rapids Gold announced the move on Twitter as they welcome Thomas to the roster. As Shams Charania of The Athletic noted, IT reunites with his close friend Jason Terry, who is currently coaching the squad.

While the Grand Rapids confirmed that Isaiah Thomas will suit up on Wednesday against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, the main event for the former All-Star will be the G League Showcase set from December 19 to 22 in Las Vegas.

Going to the G League is another opportunity for Thomas to show that he is still capable of playing in the league. He hasn't played significant  NBA minutes for a long time now, with his lone stint with the New Orleans Pelicans in 2020-21 lasting for just three games. He averaged just 16 minutes a game during the stretch of that 10-day contract he signed.

Since then, Thomas had showed up in Pro-Am basketball leagues during the summer and most recently joined the USA Basketball secondary team in the World Cup Qualifiers. He put up 21 points each for Team USA in their win over Cuba and heartbreaking loss to Mexico.

Hopefully, this time around, Isaiah Thomas turns heads once again and finally land a contract that would allow him to play in the NBA. Besides, there are more than a few teams who can use his scoring off the bench.
