Isaiah Thomas‘ career is still young, but it's already been a remarkable journey, and a dream come true.

Thomas was drafted in 2011 behind players that are no longer in the league, and he displayed his talents enough to make his first All Star appearance in the 2015-16 season.

Thomas is playing at a high level standing at 5'9, and has proved himself to be one of the toughest players in the NBA.

It's no gimmick either, the guy can flat out play basketball. This season alone, he is averaging 24.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists for the Boston Celtics.

Chris Forsberg of ESPN spoke with Thomas regarding one of his assignments as a rookie, when he was called on to guard Lakers legend Kobe Bryant in the post.

It was Thomas' first game, and he recalls the story vividly.

Thomas was too enamored with his favorite player to attempt to stop him, but no one will hold it against him.

What coach Westphal saw in Thomas then is what we are enjoying now. Thomas is tough, and doesn't back down from anyone.

Coach Westphal said ‘nobody backs down Isaiah', but he did allow Kobe Bryant to do it once.
