Rapper J Cole signed a pro basketball contract with the Rwanda Patriots of the Basketball Africa League. For a long time, he had been working towards a pro career in hoops and finally got a chance to live his dream. However, after a very short career, he has decided to hang it up and was forced to leave the Patriots due to a family obligation.

J Cole took to Instagram to pay his respect to the Patriots for allowing him to live his dream.

Cole didn't do too much in his brief stint with the Patriots but still felt it necessary to give a shoutout to the team and his teammates for providing him with an opportunity. Cole's numbers weren't good in any way.

While Cole was thrilled to be given an opportunity, and a lot of people were shocked he actually landed a pro contract, some of the players weren't too happy with his “opportunity” to head overseas and hoop.

“It’s disrespectful to the ones who sacrificed their whole lives for this,” AS Sale guard Terrell Stoglin said, according to ESPN.

All in all, Cole's pro basketball career is over, at least for now. Given the way he played it seems highly unlikely he is given another opportunity somewhere else unless it is purely for the sake of publicity.

Either way, J Cole will remember that experience for the rest of his life.
