The Jacksonville Jaguars finished the 2017 season with a 12-4 record and an AFC South division title. They just missed making their first Super Bowl in franchise history and it looked as if they were set for the future with a dominant defense, a promising rookie running back behind an impressive offensive line, and a manageable quarterback in Blake Bortles.

However, the 2018 season has once again exposed Bortles and brought him back down to Earth after a decent 2017 campaign. The team sits at 3-7 and it seems as though the fan base and team itself is ready to move on from the fifth-year quarterback. With Leonard Fournette in and out of the lineup all year, Bortles has not had the talented second-year back to fall on, which has led to him making careless mistakes in the passing game.

Jaguars' fans have been clamoring for some new life under center as they feel the Bortles experiment has gone on too long. So, if the Jaguars are ready to move on from the former Central Florida Knight, who would be the next best option?

Here are three potential replacements for Blake Bortles going into the 2019 season for the Jaguars.

Tyrod Taylor, Browns

3. Tyrod Taylor

There don't seem to be too many options at quarterback in free agency next year, but one interesting player the Jacksonville Jaguars might look toward is Tyrod Taylor. He was involved in a position battle with rookie Baker Mayfield in Cleveland earlier this year and it looks like the latter is the guy for the Browns going forward.

Taylor is certainly not a franchise quarterback option, but he would be able to get the job done for the Jaguars while they wait for the NFL Draft to reload seeing as how the 2019 draft isn't laden with superstar signal callers. The Jaguars would be able to manage the 2019 season with Taylor and he could be able to play his way into a permanent starting job.

Through three years as the starter in Buffalo, Taylor threw for over 3,000 yards twice and nearly 3,000 in 2017, his final season with the Bills where he led them to the playoffs for the first time in almost 20 years. He threw for 51 touchdowns and just 16 interceptions in that stretch, making it hard to believe he wouldn't be a great option for the Jaguars at quarterback.

Drew Lock

2. Drew Lock

While there aren't too many great quarterbacks to choose from in the upcoming 2019 NFL Draft, one the Jacksonville Jaguars are likely already paying close attention to is Missouri's Drew Lock. There is some discrepancy on where Lock would actually fall in the draft, but if the Jaguars have a top ten pick, they would at least consider taking the Mizzou slinger.

Yes, Missouri quarterbacks don't have a great track record in the NFL — Blaine Gabbert anyone? — but Lock is not your run-of-the-mill Tiger quarterback. He is a special player that would make any team instantly better the second he suits up for them.

Lock is on pace to eclipse 12,000 career yards at Missouri and will likely surpass the 100 touchdown mark in his last two games as well. He has been a great leader on the field and he has the attitude and look of a great NFL quarterback. He would bring to Jacksonville exactly what the Jaguars and their fan base are looking for.

Nick Foles, Eagles

1. Nick Foles

Okay, listen. I know the Philadelphia Eagles are probably going to ask for more than what any team would be willing to pay for a backup quarterback when it comes to Nick Foles. However, if you are the Jacksonville Jaguars, you have to believe he would be worth paying the price.

Foles played phenomenally in the absence of Carson Wentz last year and took the Eagles to their first Super Bowl trophy in team history. While he has yet to play a big role for the team in 2018, that only makes the case for Jacksonville to trade for him stronger. The Eagles are clearly going with Wentz into the future and they probably now have a much cheaper price tag on Foles, who has proved his worth in the past.

Foles had a great sophomore season for the Eagles in 2013, throwing for 2,891 yards and 27 touchdowns against just two interceptions. That was good enough to lead the Eagles to playoffs and also snag the top spot in the NFL for touchdown-interception ratio and a Pro Bowl spot. The Jaguars could even offer to trade Bortles and a late-round pick to the Eagles for Foles. That might even be an even trade-off.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have to do something about their quarterback situation. There are still a ton of questions left to be answered, but one thing seems to be for sure: Blake Bortles is no longer the guy in Duval.
