As we head into the 2022 NFL offseason, the Jacksonville Jaguars are in a good position to improve a team that was the league's worst each of the past two years. The Jaguars are projected to have about $61.3 million in salary-cap space and have no high-impact free agents set to hit the market. They have quarterback Trevor Lawrence on his rookie deal and are hoping to build a championship-caliber team around the second-year signal-caller out of Clemson before they have to start devoting a large portion of their salary cap towards him.

That starts this offseason, as not only do the Jaguars have the cap space to sign a few free agents, but they also have an opening at the head coach position that is likely to bring new life into the building after Urban Meyer drained the team of its love for the game in 2021. After they find that new head coach–Byron Leftwich is seen as the favorite–then they can look to sign some players that have the style of play that his system's call for. Here are three players that the Jaguars could sign that will fit in any system that they try to install.

Jaguars Free Agent Targets for 2022 NFL Offseason

3. DeVondre Campbell

Originally from Fort Meyers, a return to Northern Florida could be a homecoming of sorts for the 28-year-old Campbell, who is coming off of his first Pro Bowl and first-team All-Pro season in 2021. That season was his first with the Green Bay Packers after starting his career with four years on the Atlanta Falcons followed by one with the Arizona Cardinals. Campbell has missed just one game since his rookie season and also brings a championship mentality; DeVondre made it to the Super Bowl in his rookie year with the Falcons and has played in a handful of playoff games.

2. Terron Armstead

Armstead may have not made it to the Super Bowl as Campbell has, but his individual accolades are nothing to hold your nose at. Terron is now up to three Pro-Bowls (2018-2020) and one second-team All-Pro honor (2018). The offensive line is a huge concern for the Jaguars, especially on the outside where they do not seem to have the answer at either the left or right tackle position. Jacksonville has some issues at guard, as well, but they at least have decent free agents (Andrew Norwell, A.J. Cann) that they can re-sign to protect Lawrence up the middle. On the edges, it is going to have to come in the draft and/or free agency. With the first and 33rd picks in the draft, though, they are in a weird spot to be able to add an impact offensive lineman. All the more reason to go all-out for a guy like Armstead.

1. Davante Adams

Adams may very well be looking at the franchise tag considering the Packers' dire salary cap situation and the fact that they cannot let Adams walk in free agency for next to nothing. They may be happy just to collect the 3rd round compensatory pick in 2023 while still making their best offer to sign Adams, but they could surely just tag and trade him for a 2022 pick instead. If Adams does make it to free agency, however, the Jaguars should be running to him with a blank check and the ability to play with one of this generation's “golden boys,” just as he played with one of the last generation's legends, Aaron Rodgers.
