A long free agency drought finally concluded for veteran defensive end Jadeveon Clowney. After months of meeting with several teams, the Tennessee Titans and the New Orleans Saints became frontrunners for the Clowney sweepstakes. At the end of the day, the Titans eventually emerged victorious to secure the services of the seven-year veteran.

NFL insider Josina Anderson shared Clowney's words on choosing the Titans over the Saints via Twitter:

The Titans are reportedly giving Clowney a one-year deal worth more than $12 million and an opportunity to cash in again in 2021 if he has a big season, according to ESPN NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

Clowney will also be reuniting with current Titans head coach Mike Vrabel who was his defensive coordinator back with the Houston Texans in 2017. It was also in the same season when the former South Carolina product had the most productive campaign of his career. He tallied career highs in almost every area on the stat sheet including total tackles, combined tackles, assisted tackles, and sacks while playing through all 16 games.

However, Clowney's lone campaign with the Seattle Seahawks last season was a down year for him as he recorded measly numbers with 21 total tackles, 31 combined tackles, and 3 sacks in 13 appearances. He successfully underwent surgery earlier this year to repair a core muscle injury.

Jadeveon Clowney's arrival in Tennessee would bring a much-needed boost to the team's subpar defensive line. The former 2014 top overall pick would hope to resurrect his career and make a valuable contribution to the Titans' playoff push in the upcoming season.
