The Boston Celtics locker room is starting to turn into a hospital early in the season, as forward Jae Crowder will be out “at least a week” with a left ankle sprain, head coach Brad Stevens told Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe.

Crowder has played an integral part in the Celtics starting rotation, playing at both forward spots and being a constant piece on the defensive end.

His injury adds to the ones of centers Kelly Olynyk (out indefinitely) and Al Horford, who's been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Celtics recently got guard Marcus Smart back on the court, only to suffer the setback with Crowder later in the game. Rookie Jaylen Brown and newcomer Gerald Green will be the large beneficiaries in Crowder's absence, picking up the bulk of the minutes.

This is especially a great chance for Brown to put up strong performances and earn himself more minutes in the eyes of coach Stevens, but it won't come easy as Crowder's imminent return will cap his upside over time.
