Jimmy Butler and Jae Crowder made headlines last night with a heated Twitter back and forth after the game between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Utah Jazz.

The game was hotly contested seeing Karl-Anthony Towns ejected for the first time in his career along with Crowder getting into it with Tom Thibodeau as well. That moment prompted this tweet from Butler.

Butler didn't play in the game and once it was over, Crowder fired back on Twitter.

It looked like maybe something real was brewing between the two, but upon closer inspection they may have just been having fun with each other. Here is Crowder talking about it after the game:

“He's a competitor, he's a trash-talker, all of the above,” Crowder said. “He wishes he was out there competing in a game like that. That's what was eating him up the most was that he wishes he was on the court, but, uh, that's my guy.”

Remember that these two both went to Marquette so share that special bond. It looks like it really was nothing more than just having some fun on Twitter after a heated game.

The Jazz went on to win it 116-108 with Butler's absence and eventually Towns' too was too much for Minnesota to overcome.
