Aaron Lynch is unretiring and joining the Jacksonville Jaguars, per Field Yates of ESPN.

Lynch played for the Chicago Bears in 2019. He has posted 20 sacks over six NFL seasons with the San Francisco 49ers and Bears.

The Jaguars are 1-5 on the 2020 season. They are currently giving up 30.2 points per game on defense and will likely miss the playoffs.

Aaron Lynch, who played college football at South Florida, was taken by the 49ers in the fifth round of the 2014 draft. He played four seasons in the Bay Area and racked up 15 sacks and 54 solo tackles.

The NFL suspended Lynch on July 15, 2016 for four games for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. He played two seasons with the Bears in 2018 and 2019 and then signed a one-year deal with the Jaguars on May 5, 2020.

However, Lynch informed Jacksonville he was going to retire, so the team placed him on the IR/Retired list on August 18, 2020.

For what it's worth, this change of heart by Lynch is rather surprising since the Jaguars are one of the worst teams in the NFL, but maybe the Florida native just misses the game and wants to help Jacksonville.

The Jaguars will face the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 7. They defeated the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1, but have since lost to the Tennessee Titans, Miami Dolphins, Cincinnati Bengals, Houston Texans and Detroit Lions.
