Sunday's have not been kind to Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles this season, and that trend continued in Week 7.

The Jaguars benched Bortles for backup Cody Kessler in the second half of Sunday's 20-7 home loss to the Houston Texans. Bortles accounted for two turnovers — two fumbles — and the team was trailing 20-0 before Kessler entered the game. Bortles finished the afternoon 6-of-12 for a meager 61 yards.

After the game, Blake Bortles told reporters he has no idea if he's going to start in Week 8 against the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.

“I’ll do the same thing I’ve always done — show up, work, prepare and get ready to go and work as hard as I can,” Bortles said, via Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk. “If I play, I play. If not, then I’ll do whatever I can to help this team.

“It’s obviously not what you want to hear as a quarterback. Those aren’t the words you want the head coach to say to you. I was fortunate enough to watch Chad Henne go through that same thing and me be the guy that went in and played. I think he handled it with the utmost professionalism and that is what I tried to do. I tried to be there for Cody [Kessler]. Be there for the guys in any way.”

On the season, Blake Bortles is 151-of-249 for 1,735 yards. He's thrown nine touchdowns, eight interceptions, and has five fumbles. The Jaguars opted to hand Bortles an extension this offseason which will see him under contract until 2020. That means they'll need to eat some dead money if they decide to move on from him next season.
