The Jacksonville Jaguars are going to look a bit different in 2020 on the defensive side of the ball without Calais Campbell in the unit. During one of the wildest off-season that the league has ever experienced, Campbell found himself dealt from Jacksonville to Baltimore in a move that sends him from a club projected to finish near the bottom of the standings to one highly-anticipated to be near the top.

“I was expecting to be in Jacksonville throughout the remainder of my contract and maybe even longer,” Campbell said during a recent appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show.” “I thought maybe an extension would come before a trade would come. So I was kind of caught off guard but it happened to be to one of the best teams in football, so it was kind of a win-win situation.”

That extension did come in the form of a one-year deal with the Ravens, who will only be adding to their already ferocious defensive collection.

Campbell started all 48 games that he appeared in with the Jaguars over the past three seasons, having quickly become a beloved member of the franchise after his departure from the Cardinals. Having reeled off 31.5 sacks in his three seasons, Campbell now brings his pass-rushing acumen to the Ravens, with just a fifth-round draft selection having come back in return.

The Jaguars have been at the forefront of many high-profile trades over the past few seasons, another of which could be on the horizon with Yannick Ngakoue.

Whether Ngakoue's path follows Campbell's remains to be seen, but regardless, the Jaguars will already be looking for ways to replace Campbell's production.
