The Jacksonville Jaguars have held a fire sale over the last year. It continued when they opted to trade defensive end Calais Campbell to the Baltimore Ravens.

Campbell has since taken to Twitter to thank the fans and the city of Jacksonville:

“Your kindness and enthusiasm fueled me to be a better player and a better member of your community,” Campbell wrote on Twitter. “It was one of the great honors of my life to wear teal and black and I’ll forever be grateful for how my time as a Jaguar changed my life. They say to always leave a place better than you found it and I hope thats what I’ve done in Duval. Thank you for believing and allowing me to live out my dream. It was a true honor to be your Mayor of Sacksonville.”

Although his run in Jacksonville may not have ended how he wanted, it is encouraging to see that Campbell's comments indicate that there seems to be no hard feelings. After all, he enjoyed some of his most productive years as an integral member of this defense.

While the move certainly qualifies as a blockbuster deal, it hardly comes as any surprise. The Jaguars are in the midst of a grueling rebuild and have wasted no time in parting ways with their key players in an effort to shore up some draft capital and kickstart the process.

Meanwhile, Calais Campbell now has the opportunity to link up with a bonafide playoff contender in Baltimore. His arrival will give this Ravens defense another elite piece to work with in the pass-rushing department.
