There seems to be a new type of confidence around the Jacksonville Jaguars since Nick Foles has come on board and wide receiver Dede Westbrook feels that.

Westbrook made it clear he didn't mean any disrespect to the Jaguars former quarterback Blake Bortles, but he is excited to get to work to what he calls one of the best quarterbacks in the league.

Per John Reid in the Florida Times-Union:

″Nothing against Blake at all. I mean, Blake is a great friend of mine. But to be out there with Nick, a Super Bowl MVP quarterback, obviously, that’s what we’ve been lacking,″ Westbrook said. ″For me to go out there and pretty much showcase my skill with one of the best quarterbacks in the league is going to be a huge thing. Not only for me, but the guys around me.″

Westbrook has always been considered a good QB but if training camp is any indication, he is going to be taking a big step forward this year. Foles has thrown a couple of deep bombs that have resulted in touchdowns although for Westbrook he still enjoys the short passes where he can use his speed the best.

“Yes, it’s fun to go deep,″ Westbrook said. ″But for me, I love running the shallow routes, taking them 70 or 80 yards. That’s where my fun comes in at. I feel like anybody with speed can run by somebody and catch a football. But it’s after the catch is where you really see what you can do.″

Last season Westbrook had 717 yards and five touchdowns and with Foles now under center, it wouldn't be shocking to see him reach 1,000 yards.
