The quarterback's most important weapon is his hand. However, that's exactly what Jacksonville Jaguars rookie QB Gardner Minshew tried breaking during his collegiate career.

The eccentric quarterback, whose personality is quickly endearing himself to his team's fans with his charm, was not shy at all about sharing the incident to the public.

During his rookie season at East Carolina, he wanted to redshirt his rookie season in order to extend his rookie career. However, one of the two senior QBs ahead of him got switched to running back. The other got injured with a concussion. This means that his redshirt plan was all crumbling down.

Desperate to keep his plan intact, he did what any desperate football athlete would do: break his own hand. He was more than candid when he shared the story on the Barstool Sports podcast Pardon My Take.

″So, you know, I get an idea,” Minshew said on the podcast, per John Reid of Jacksonville.com. “I go home, I grab a bottle of Jack Daniels and I grab a hammer. And, I go back into my room, I take a pull of the Jack Daniels, I put my hand down on the table and Boom! Boom! Boom! 1,2,3 … I hit the hell out of my hand dude!”

It's insane to hear a story like this happen, but that's exactly what makes Minshew lovable to the Jaguars faithful. Moreover, he backs up his antics with superb football: he's notched 692 passing yards and five touchdowns with a superb 73.9% completion rate.

Fans can expect more amazing stories and football from this one-of-a-kind man moving forward.
