Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Gardner Minshew II played phenomenally in his rookie season. Many experts weren't expecting him to have as much success as he did in his first season in the NFL.

In a recent interview with SiriusXM NFL Radio, Minshew II opens up about the Jaguars making him comfortable and how Nick Foles helped him a lot.

Via James Johnson of JagsWire.com:

“So, going in I didn’t have any reps with the first-team. But I had some great people around me coaches-wise,” Minshew said. And then Nick [Foles] [helped tremendously], being able to watch him and how he prepared. In the first game, Nick goes down and I was going over [the plan] with my quarterback's coach [Scott Milanovich] and he says, ‘All right, circle all the plays you like.’

“I feel like I was really put in a position to succeed by those guys. I cannot be more grateful for the people around me.”

Although Minshew finished off the season with the Jaguars posting a record of 6-6, he showed flashes of star potential. The 23-year-old threw for 3,271 yards and an impressive 21 touchdowns.

Minshew set multiple NFL and franchise records during his rookie season for the Jaguars. He was the first rookie quarterback in team history to throw for 900 or more yards in his first four games. In addition, he also set a record for the highest completion of any player in NFL history who makes at least 15 pass attempts in their season debut.

Nonetheless, Jaguars fans should be delighted with how he performed in his rookie season. Gardner Minshew certainly has a bright future with Jacksonville.
