The Jacksonville Jaguars have undergone some significant changes this offseason. Regardless, it appears cornerback Jalen Ramsey will stick around for the long haul.

Ramsey was slated to enter the final year of his rookie deal this offseason. Fortunately for both player and team, the Jaguars have since decided to exercise his fifth-year option, via the team's official Twitter account.

The decision to pick up Jalen Ramsey's option was a no-brainer for the front office. Jacksonville selected him with the fifth overall pick of the 2016 draft and he has since managed to establish himself as one of the biggest stars in the NFL. Not only has he been one of the premier corners in the league, but his vocal demeanor has helped him draw plenty of headlines over the years. Fortunately, he has proven to be one of the few players that can both walk the walk and talk the talk.

Jalen Ramsey has registered 193 tackles, 44 pass deflections, and nine interceptions thus far in Jacksonville. As a result, he earned two trips to the Pro Bowl and was named a first-team All-Pro in 2017. His status as the top cornerback on one of the most talented defenses in the league has made him a valuable cornerstone for this franchise moving forward.

Now that the Jaguars have picked up his fifth-year option, the next item on the menu will be taking care of a long-term extension. It is no secret that Jacksonville endured a tremendous setback in 2018. Securing Ramsey for the long haul could go a long way in helping them get back to the playoffs.
