The Jacksonville Jaguars have already let one wide receiver go in Allen Robison this offseason. And now, they’ve decided release another in Allen Hurns, as ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

Hurns, 26, spent his first four seasons in the NFL with the Jags after going undrafted in 2014. Hurns had a surprisingly solid year as a rookie as he had 51 catches for 677 yards and six touchdowns. He exceeded those numbers in his sophomore season, where he recorded 64 receptions for 1,031 yards and 10 TDs.

Thanks to his impressive first two years, he earned himself a four-year, $40.05 million contract in 2016. Cutting Hurns saves the Jags $7 million on the salary cap with zero dead money.

However, Hurns has been unable to reproduce that sort of production, in large part due to injuries. He’s missed at least five games in each of the last two seasons. He’s coming off a 2017 campaign where he had 39 catches for 484 yards and two touchdowns.

With Robinson and Hurns now gone, Marqise Lee, Keelan Cole, Dede Westbrook and the recently-signed Donte Moncrief are slated to be Blake Bortles’ top receiving targets for next season. Lee just signed a four-year deal worth up to $48 million earlier in the offseason to stay on with the team.

Meanwhile, Moncrief landed in Jacksonville on a one-year fully-guaranteed contract worth up to $12 million (including incentives) after his departure from the Indianapolis Colts.

Despite his recent down years, Hurns should still have some offers from other teams this offseason. Former teammate Allen Robinson has already begun by recruiting Hurns to join him on the Chicago Bears.
