The Jacksonville Jaguars are reportedly likely to consider a trade for star cornerback Jalen Ramsey in the offseason, per Adam Schefter of ESPN. However, the Jaguars beg to differ.

In a statement released by the team, the Jaguars have disputed the report, saying they have “zero intention” trading Ramsey.

Ramsey recently went out and publicly declared his desire to remain with the Jaguars for his entire career. That’s despite sending out a cryptic tweet which seemed to put some doubt into his future with the team. Ramsey went on to explain that the tweet was directed at “fake fans” who have not stuck by the team amid their struggles this season.

It’s been a tough season for Ramsey and the Jaguars. After making a run all the way to the AFC title game last yet, they are stuck at 3-6 and are looking highly unlikely to return to the postseason. Ramsey himself hasn’t been playing quite up to his All-Pro standards this season and also has a reputation as a difficult personality.

But still, it’s hard to believe the Jaguars are already ready to consider parting ways with one of, if not the best cornerback in the entire league with a couple of years still left on his rookie deal.

The Jaguars are obviously not going to publicly admit their desire to trade a player of Ramsey’s stature and lose leverage to opposing teams. But everyone will just have to wait in the coming months to see if they actually aren’t planning to trade Ramsey despite that report.
