Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Yannick Ngakoue’s wish finally gets granted. The Jaguars are dealing the five-year veteran to the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for a 2021 second-round pick and a conditional 2022 pick.

ESPN Senior NFL insider Adam Schefter disclosed the deal on Twitter:

The conditional pick could go as high as the third round if the Vikings win the Super Bowl and Yannick Ngakoue makes the Pro Bowl. It can land in the fourth round if Ngakoue makes the Pro Bowl and the Vikings don’t win the Super Bowl or the fifth round if Ngakoue doesn’t make the Pro Bowl to the Jaguars.

Back on March 2, 2020, the former Maryland Terrapin previously went on Twitter to state that he wished to be traded and would not play for the Jaguars in the future. Eleven days later, despite Ngakoue's request, the Jaguars placed the franchise tag on him.

On April 20, 2020, Ngakoue got in a lengthy Twitter argument with Tony Khan, the team owner’s son, because the Jaguars still wouldn’t trade him. During their argument, Ngakoue most notably told Khan “Just trade me.”

The Washington D.C. native is concluding a four-year run that saw him tally 122 total tackles, 37.5 sacks, and 14 forced fumbles. He will be bringing a much-needed depth to the Vikings defense that saw four-time Pro Bowl defensive end Everson Griffen relocate to the Dallas Cowboys during the offseason.

Yannick Ngakoue still has to sign his franchise tag for the deal to become official. The acquisition also needs the Vikings to restructure some of their other contracts to fit Ngakoue’s $17.788 million salary under the cap.

A change in scenery could make the difference for Ngakoue to be back to his 2017 Pro Bowl form.
