The Jacksonville Jaguars will pick up their fifth-year option on cornerback Jalen Ramsey, according to Daniel Popper of The Athletic.

Of course, this does not come as much of a surprise.

Ramsey has become one of the best cornerbacks in football, and while his 2018 campaign may have been a bit disappointing, he is still an incredibly valuable member to the Jaguars' defense.

The question is, will Jacksonville begin contract talks with Ramsey sometime soon?

The 24-year-old is due to become an unrestricted free agent in 2021, and back in December, there were rumors that Ramsey could consider holding out for a new deal.

This past season, Ramsey finished with 65 tackles, three interceptions and 13 passes defended en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.

Ramsey, who played his collegiate football at Florida State University, was originally selected by the Jaguars with the fifth overall pick of the 2016 NFL Draft.

He played in all 16 games during his rookie campaign and instantly ascended the ranks as one of the top defensive backs in the league, totaling 65 tackles, a couple of picks, a forced fumble, 14 passes defended and a defensive touchdown.

Then, in 2017, Ramsey became a household name after tallying 63 stops, four interceptions and 17 passes defended, making his first trip to Honolulu as a result.

Known for his trash-talking and brash attitude, Ramsey has never missed a game since being drafted.

The Jaguars are coming off of a season in which they won just five games, one year after going 10-6 and making it all the way to the AFC Championship Game.
