Jaguars’ Jalen Ramsey inactive for Week 6 vs. Saints
After Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Kahn said Jalen Ramsey will play on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints, the cornerback is on their inactive list for the game. Kahn said he had a “heart-to-heart” with Ramsey, amid a trade requested after Week 2.
Ramsey was listed as questionable this week with a back injury that sent him to a Houston specialist. The Pro Bowl cornerback has now missed three consecutive games since asking for a trade out, claiming the flu and the birth of his son along with his back issue as the reason for not playing.
It should be no coincidence that Ramsey’s issues are coming at a time in which he does not want to play for Jacksonville. He had not missed a game in three years before asking for a trade.
Ramsey got into an altercation with Jaguars coach Doug Marrone during their Week 2 loss to the Houston Texans. Since then, he has remained adamant that he wants to be traded. Unfortunately for the 24-year-old, the Jaguars are just as adamant about keeping him around for the long haul.
The Jaguars have reportedly received significant trade packages to deal away the 2017 All-Pro but remain firm in a no-trade stance for Ramsey. Reportedly, a team offered two first-round picks — the alleged going rate for the cornerback — for the disgruntled star, only to be turned down from Jacksonville brass.
Ramsey, being a 24-year-old with two Pro-Bowls and an All-Pro to his name, should receive league-wide interest for his services.
The situation will be one to track as the Oct. 29th trade deadline looms.
