Leonard Fournette is looking better by the day. This fact is something that should excite plenty of the Jacksonville Jaguars faithful.

The former LSU star (who was once touted as the Michael Jordan of football) had the numbers during his rookie year to prove the hype. However, his horrible 2018 stint had people writing him off and put him in a miserable place.

This is why many Jaguars fans will be thrilled to hear that the man they drafted fourth overall in 2017.

Per Tyler Dunne in Bleacher Report:

“I’m in a happy place right now,” Fournette said. “Way, way, way, 100 percent better. 100 percent.”

Fans who are familiar with his situation know how big of a mental obstacle he had to hurdle in order to be able to say those words.

After a rookie campaign that saw him record 1,040 rushing yards, he was reduced to 3.3 yards a carry on the back of a bad hamstring injury. He started only eight games and had the guarantees in his contract revoked.

“It was really the first time—in my life, in football—I had a bad year. A down year,” he says. “I dealt with an injury. A lot was going on. I wanted to reinvent myself.”

“People doubting me and counting me out,” he says. “I love that.”

Fournette has now cut weight, is looking sharper in the preseason, and is equipped with a hunger that he didn't have when he was an urban legend in Baton Rouge.

Should everything go well, fans will see a return to form for Fournette.
