The Jacksonville Jaguars managed to secure a victory in the 2018 NFL season opener against the New York Giants. Unfortunately, running back Leonard Fournette was unable to finish the game after exiting in the first half with a hamstring injury.

Fournette has since been a limited participant in practice all week. According to ESPN's Jeff Darlington, his status for Jacksonville's Week 2 showdown versus the New England Patriots will be a game-time decision.

“I started running on it today (he didn’t practice). It feels good. So that’s progress. We’ll see. It’s a gametime decision… I like my chances more and more as the day has gone on.”

This is not the news fantasy owners wanted to hear. However, it is best for the Jaguars to monitor Fournette's injury closely. Fortunately, all signs point to him being available.

While it would be nice to have Fournette in the mix for Sunday, the Jaguars have high hopes for this season and his future. Hamstring injuries are known to linger if not taken care of properly and that could be much harder to do given his bruising running style. That said, Jacksonville would much rather have him fully healthy down the final stretch of the year than risk further injury in the opening weeks.

If Fournette is unable to suit up, the Jaguars will rely heavily on running back T.J. Yeldon. Yeldon did a stellar job in his stead last week after registering 51 yards on 14 carries. He also tacked on three receptions for 18 yards and a touchdown.
