The running game of Jacksonville Jaguars has kicked it into another gear during the 2017 NFL season with rookie Leonard Fournette quickly emerging as one of the best backs in the league.

Unfortunately for the Jaguars, the rookie phenom went down with an ankle injury in the loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. Fournette went down with the injury late in the game and didn't get back on the field, according to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk.

Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette left in the fourth quarter with a right ankle injury. The Jaguars listed him as questionable to return, but he did not re-enter the game.

Despite not being able to get back in the game, Fournette had already made his usual impact. The rookie running back finished with 130 rushing yards and a touchdown on 21 carries.

Apparently, Fournette was given the green light to get back in the game but decided against it, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.

With Fournette stuck on the sidelines with the ankle issue, Chris Ivory came in to shoulder the load left by the rookie. Ivory only recorded two carries for three yards before the team ultimately lost to the Rams, 27-17.
