There has been a dark cloud cast on Leonard Fournette's future with the Jacksonville Jaguars this offseason. Despite the signs of him not being part of their long-term plans, Doug Marrone believes Fournette will be ‘really motivated‘ in 2020.

Since earlier in the offseason, the Jaguars have left a few hints that Fournette won't be with the team in 2021. As a matter of fact, before the 2020 NFL Draft commenced, Jacksonville began fielding trade offers for Fournette.

However, there weren't any teams that expressed interest in him and he will remain with the team. At least for the time being. There's no doubt that Fournette realizes his days in Jacksonville could be numbered.

On Friday, the Jaguars decided to decline Fournette's fifth-year option for the 2021 season. Provided that, Fournette will be heading into a contract year with Jacksonville in 2020. But seeing that they tried to trade him, a long-term deal doesn't seem like a probable resolution next offseason.

Last season, Fournette was able to rush for a career-high 1,152 yards and also hauled in 76 receptions. While he caught 76 passes — the most in his career — he was less than efficient with his receptions, averaging just 6.9 yards per reception.

At the least, Fournette was able to start in 15 games and for the most part, he was able to avoid any injuries. In his first two seasons in the NFL, the former first-round pick was sidelined for a total of 11 games due to injuries. Even though the Jaguars have all but pushed him out the door, Marrone thinks Fournette will have a chip on his shoulder next season.
