The Jacksonville Jaguars should be feeling pretty great after their impressive 31-20 win over the New England Patriots in their AFC Championship rematch. However, their joy will be dampened by the news regarding starting left tackle Cam Robinson.

Robinson is done for the season after it was confirmed that he suffered a torn ACL, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Robinson suffered the injury in the first quarter of the Patriots game and did not return. Fourth-year player Josh Wells replaced Robinson and will presumably take over at left tackle moving forward. Wells, who went undrafted coming out of James Madison in 2014, has made 34 appearances for the Jaguars in four years and has made four career starts (all last season).

Robinson, 22, was a second-round draft pick of the Jaguars last year after starring in college at Alabama. He started 15 games as a rookie last season. While he hasn’t been spectacular, he has done a decent enough job protecting quarterback Blake Bortles. It remains to be seen whether Wells can consistently do as good a job keeping Bortles upright.

Bortles had a phenomenal game against the Patriots as he threw for 377 yards and four touchdowns and one interception. A good part of his success likely came from the fact that he got very good protection from his line, which didn’t give up a single sack to New England’s defense.

Hopefully, the Jaguars can bounce back from the loss of their young offensive lineman and continue to provide the same type of play moving forward.
