There is plenty of speculation regarding running back Leonard Fournette's future with the Jacksonville Jaguars. If former Jaguars tight end Marcedes Lewis had it his way, Fournette would not be going anywhere.

It is no secret that he is coming off a disappointing 2018 NFL season. According to TMZ Sports, Lewis still feels Jacksonville should do what they can to make sure Fournette stays put.

″The way they are structured and the way they do their thing, it’s always about running the ball first,″ Lewis said. ″I think Leonard is an amazing running back. He’s young and has some things to work on, but they should keep him.″

There is certainly plenty of truth to Lewis' comments. When healthy, the Jaguars rely heavily on Fournette in the run game. He has proven more than capable of handling the large workload, however, he has struggled to do so on a consistent basis for a variety of reasons.

Fournette struggled to produce like his normal dynamic self throughout the 2018 campaign due to injuries. Unfortunately, things reached a boiling point when he was suspended for fighting Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Shaq Lawson in late November. Many of the problems that currently plague the relationship between Fournette and the Jaguars front office has stemmed from his suspension.

Regardless, Jacksonville made quite the investment to bring Fournette in when they selected him with the fourth overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. He quickly proved his worth with a stellar 1,000-yard campaign in his rookie season en route to helping this team go to the AFC Championship Game. It will be interesting to see whether or not he is still with the team this offseason.
