This offseason, the Jacksonville Jaguars signed Nick Foles in hopes he could solve their quarterback problems. Despite the Philadelphia Eagles having Carson Wentz, an NFL coach had high-praise for Foles.

In an article by Mike Sando of The Athletic, an NFL coach said he would've preferred to face Carson Wentz than Nick Foles in 2018. The article allows 55 anonymous coaches and executives in the NFL to rank the quarterbacks in the league.

“I respect the s— out of Foles,” one of these coaches said. “I would have rather played Carson Wentz last year. I just felt like Foles didn’t make the mistakes that Wentz made on film. I do not know if that was just Wentz coming off the ACL, but Foles is just confident, and I also thought he spread the ball around better.”

(Foles is #18 in these rankings, tier 3)

Last season, Wentz was on his way to having a phenomenal season in his third season in the NFL. Similarly to 2017, Wentz suffered an injury late in the season that prevented him from playing in the playoffs.

Both times, Foles came in and replaced Wentz and delivered some memorable performances along the way. Most notably, Foles helped lead the Eagles to their first Super Bowl in franchise history in 2017.

Now, last year, Foles was trying to end with the same result but came up short in the playoffs. Philadelphia ended up losing to the New Orleans Saints in the NFC Divisional Round.

Among the games that Foles played in, an NFL coach said he would have rather had Wentz under center for the Eagles—not Foles. If you're doing the math at home, that leaves it at seven possible teams who had a coach say that.
