The Jacksonville Jaguars will be without Nick Foles on the field for an extended period of time. Foles may not be able to suit up for the team but he can still make a difference on the sideline. John DeFilippo wants Foles to be an ‘”assistant offensive coordinator” as he nurses his shoulder injury.

The Jaguars took on Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 1, with not many people believing they could win the game. The Chiefs got off to a 10-0 lead before Foles was able to connect with DJ Chark on a 35-yard touchdown.

During the play, Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones drove him into the ground as he completed the pass. Everyone was celebrating the touchdown, but Foles was writhing in pain as his left shoulder was injured on the play. After receiving an MRI, Foles was diagnosed with a broken clavicle and immediately placed on injured reserve. The Jaguars offseason addition can return this season, but not until Week 11 at the earliest.

Following Foles' exit from the game, Jacksonville was forced to turn to rookie Gardner Minshew at quarterback. Minshew played well in his NFL regular-season debut with 275 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.

Now, Minshew will be the starter for the Jaguars until Foles can make his return to the field. While he is out, Foles will undoubtedly be in Minshew's ear to help him through the process of preparing for the game every week.

Minshew may look like he is 40-years-old with his mustache, but in reality, he is only 23-years-old. Therefore, the rookie signal-caller out of Washington State could use all of the help he can get from his veteran teammate.
