Last year when the Baltimore Ravens kept Robert Griffin III on the roster, it was a surprise to many because they usually haven't kept three quarterbacks on the roster. It makes a lot more sense now though after RGIII revealed on a podcast posted on the Ravens team website that the Jacksonville Jaguars actually tried to trade for him last season.

According to RGIII the team actually tried to trade for him twice, once during the preseason and also right before the trade deadline.

“Jacksonville tried to trade for me at the end of the preseason and right before the trade deadline, so we knew that was an opportunity and there’d be a chance if things didn’t work out with Nick Foles,” Griffin said, via CBSSports.com.

It's interesting that the team did make a run at the trade deadline and if a deal could have gotten done maybe he would have been the one closing out the season for the Jaguars, and who knows what would have happened this offseason if a trade would have went down.

Of course, Foles has ended up with the Jaguars and RGIII has decided to sign back with the Ravens and he said it makes the most sense, even though he did have other opportunities this offseason.

“We felt like if it was going to be in a backup capacity that Baltimore made the most sense,” he said. “Great working relationship with L.J., felt like I earned the respect of my teammates and the coaches, and just an offensive system that speaks to my skill set. We thought all those things were very valuable.”
