Following a brief hiatus from the NFL, quarterback Robert Griffin III now finds himself with the Baltimore Ravens. While news of his comeback may have been a bit of a surprise, this is something that has been in the works for some time now.

That said, it seems the Ravens were not the only ones interested in acquiring Griffin's services. According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, he also worked out for the Jacksonville Jaguars:

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the Jaguars worked out Griffin on Monday. That workout came only three days after the Ravens worked out Griffin

The Jaguars certainly made sense as a potential landing spot. Although they recently doubled down on their confidence in Blake Bortles with a contract extension, the 2017 season proved how vital it is to have a solid contingency plan. As of right now, Bortles and the newly-acquired Cody Kessler are the only quarterbacks on the roster. However, it remains unclear as to how serious the Jaguars were about adding Griffin to the mix.

Needless to say, the Ravens wasted no time locking him up for the 2018 season. Baltimore is seemingly on the cusp of having to deal with a bit of a quarterback situation themselves. With Joe Flacco entering his 12th season, it would be wise for them to start developing a potential successor. Although Griffin is well past that stage of his career, he could still use his chance with Baltimore as a potential launching pad to help kickstart his comeback elsewhere.
