Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Telvin Smith recently took to Instagram to speak out regarding his current status in “Sacksonville.” While it appears as though Smith isn't leaving the Jaguars anytime soon, his relationship with head coach Doug Marrone and the rest of the franchise in Jacksonville may be a bit strained.

“Understand this, I never left Duval,” Smith said in his Instagram post, via Justin Barney of News4Jax. “I’m never leaving Duval; it’s Duval til we die. You understand me? Y’all seen trade rumors and stuff. Y’all seen me go anywhere? Exactly. Y’all seen the rumors go somewhere, but y’all ain’t seen me go no where cause I ain’t going nowhere. You understand me?

“I promise y’all this: Ain’t nothing about Telvin Smith leaving Duval.”

While both Telvin Smith and Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey have remained away from the team during Jacksonville's voluntary offseason workouts, both have continued to take some heat for doing so. Nonetheless, Smith also believes that some sort of resolution will come by the end of this week.

“This week, y’all gonna know what’s going on,” Smith also stated in his Instagram post.

Leading to some of the ongoing tension in Jacksonville is the fact that the Jaguars absorbed a forgettable season in 2018. After coming within just one game of reaching the Super Bowl two seasons ago, the Jaguars returned to the cellar of the AFC South Division this past season. Now, the team has turned to former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles to lead the way in the absence of Blake Bortles, who is now a backup quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams.

Telvin Smith is part of a complicated internal dynamic with the Jaguars. Finding a way to navigate through these locker-room problems and bring everyone on the same page will be a chief project for upper management and the coaching staff in the months before the 2019 season begins this September.
