The Jacksonville Jaguars' staff overhaul may not be quite an overhaul. According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, there's a “good chance” that the Jags keep coach Doug Marrone and general manager Dave Caldwell after firing executive vice president Tom Coughlin.

The Jaguars relieved Coughlin of his duties on Dec. 18 after a firestorm came down on him by the NFLPA due to his excessive fines.

In a statement of Coughlin's firing, Jaguars owner Shad Khan said that Marrone and Caldwell would report on an interim basis, saying:

“I thank Tom for his efforts, not only over the past three years but for all he did from our very first season, 25 years ago, to put the Jacksonville Jaguars on the map. General Manager Dave Caldwell and Head Coach Doug Marrone will each report directly to me on an interim basis. My expectations, and those of our fans, for our final two games and the 2020 season are high.”

Marrone was elevated from the assistant head coach and offensive line coach under Gus Bradley in 2016 and a full-time head coach in 2017. Since then, the 55-year-old has accumulated a 22-27 record, with the high being a visit to the AFC Championship in the 2017 season and the low being the current campaign, a polarizing 5-9 one.

Caldwell became general manager in 2013. Before doing so, he served as Director of college scouting and Director of player personnel from 2008-12 with the Atlanta Falcons.

The Jaguars 2019 season has been tumultuous. They watched their franchise cornerback go to Los Angeles, their well-paid starting quarterback lose his job to a sixth-round rookie and ultimately fell-flat of expectations.
