The Jacksonville Jaguars officially have a new starting quarterback under center with veteran signal caller Blake Bortles now part of the Los Angeles Rams. Vice president of football operations Tom Coughlin notably signed former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback and Super Bowl hero Nick Foles earlier this offseason while the longtime New York Giants head coach couldn't be happier with such a move, so it appears.

“The way he’s gone about it is very interesting,” Coughlin said on 1010 XL radio on Monday, via Florida Football Insiders. “He works his teammates really, really well. You used the word ‘selfless.’ That’s the word he uses. I think the second day he’s here, he’s over at [Leonard] Fournette’s [house], and they’re going over installation for that day. . . .He’s out there working just like everybody else is out there working. And his presence is what’s important. It’s like that thing that I insinuate a lot: ‘Don’t tell me. Show me.’ Let’s stop so much verbiage, and let’s work it.”

The Jaguars, who came within just one game of reaching the Super Bowl two seasons ago, fell back to the cellar of the AFC South division in 2018. As a result of the quick collapse, the Jaguars promptly signed the journeyman Foles to a four-year free agent contract worth just south of $90 million. However, Foles won't be eased into his new role as the Indianapolis Colts, Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans remain highly competitive and mark six of Jacksonville's 16 regular season games.

The Jaguars finished 2018 at a dismal 5-11.
