Jacksonville Jaguars running back James Robinson's role on the offense has become rather unstable of late. After a costly fumble in Week 13, Robinson was benched in favor of Carlos Hyde, though after the game, head coach Urban Meyer insisted Robinson's absence was injury-related.

Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence has now given his two cents on the situation in the backfield, via Jordan de Lugo of GenerationJags. The rookie gunslinger is sticking up for Robinson, claiming the running back to be one of the team's “best players” and declaring that he wants him to be on the field.

The whole situation was confusing. Especially considering Robinson returned in the second half of a massive deficit just to rush the ball three more times? If he truly was injured, then Meyer just admitted to making a very reckless coaching decision, one which even Robinson couldn't help but question.

It seems Lawrence found the whole situation bizarre, too, and when asked about the running back he made his stance crystal clear. While Lawrence hasn't had the best season on the field in his rookie year, this type of leadership is exactly what Jaguars fans want to see from their franchise cornerstone.

Meyer's decision-making has often been questionable at best during his tenure with the Jaguars, and Lawrence coming to the defense of his teammate can go a long way towards keeping the locker room united. At 2-10, there's aren't many positives to take away from this Jags season, but Lawrence showcasing important leadership skills and sticking up for his guys is certainly a plus.
