Yannick Ngakoue has made it clear that he no longer wants to play for the Jacksonville Jaguars, asking for a trade this offseason. Despite his intention to play elsewhere next season, Ngakoue's future remains uncertain.

To avoid letting him test free agency, the Jaguars placed their franchise tag on Ngakoue. However, the former third-round pick isn't interested in signing the tag with Jacksonville. Dave Caldwell, the GM of the Jaguars, says there hasn't been much to update on Ngakoue's situation.

“We’ve exercised the franchise tender, he’s yet to sign it. Other than that, I don’t have a whole lot to add,” Caldwell said, via ProFootballTalk. Out of respect for him and his team and our team, I think it’s best to just . . . When I have news for you guys, to let you guys know where we’re at.

In his first four seasons in the NFL, Ngaokue has compiled a grand total of 37.5 sacks, 42 tackles for loss, and 14 forced fumbles. Given his consistent product so far in his career, Ngakoue is interested in being one of the highest-paid defensive players in the league.

While Ngakoue wants to be traded, the Jaguars are asking for a steep price for the Pro Bowl defensive end. Earlier this month, it was reported that Jacksonville was seeking at least a first-round pick for Ngakoue. That is likely why teams have been hesitant to make a move for him.

With the 2020 NFL Draft right around the corner, there's a chance that the Jaguars decide to move him then. But until the draft arrives, it doesn't appear that much is happening on the trade front for Ngakoue.
