Jamaal Charles isn't as good as he used to be, but he thinks he can “spark a fire” for the Jacksonville Jaguars this season.

The Jaguars don't know when they'll get Leonard Fournette back, who's been struggling with hamstring issues since Week 1. Last week, the team lost Corey Grant for the season, leaving them with one legitimate running back on the roster, T.J. Yeldon. While Yeldon is talented, he can carry the offensive load required from the backfield alone. Jamaal Charles is a former Pro Bowler, so maybe he can find some of his old vigor in a new location.

“When they see me, I want to give a boost, get them hyped, get them excited that I am here and be a spark to the fire that is going to make a flame,“Charles told the Florida Times-Union.

At his best, Charles rushed for 1,509 yards for the Kansas City Chiefs. That was back in the 2012-13 season. In the 2013-14 season, Charles rushed for 1,287 yards and a league-leading 12 touchdowns. He played some for the Denver Broncos last season, but has been a free agent until now. The Jaguars still plan on using Yeldon as their primary back, but Charles will give them security.

The Jaguars have a chance to snag sole ownership of the lead in the AFC South if they beat the Dallas Cowboys this week. Last week's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs was tough, but this will be a great opportunity for them to bounce back.
