Jamahal Hill seemingly had every obstacle thrown his way heading into his UFC Vegas 44 fight against Jimmy Crute. Obstacles that would have made many fighters pull out.

Jamahal Hill had to deal with a gruesome injury during sparring. The images were very troubling and it seemed like it could have been enough to make him pull out. That wasn't the case though as Hill doesn't like to pull out of fights.

He also had to heal up from an injury he sustained in his last fight against Paul Craig. He dislocated his elbow after getting caught in a submission.

If all of that wasn't enough though, Jamahal Hill had to face the deaths of people that he cared about. Without diving too deep into his personal life, Hill lost three people he cared about.

“It has (been difficult),” Hill told MMA Junkie at Wednesday’s UFC on ESPN 31 media day. “It has physically, emotionally – yeah. That’s not an option (pulling out of the fight). I’ve got a family to feed, so it is what it is. I’ve got to deal with what I’ve got to deal with and I’ve got to do what I’ve got to do. It’s definitely been one of those emotionally type things, just one thing after another. But I’m here and I’m ready to go.”

Jamahal Hill's loss at UFC 263 against Paul Craig still doesn't sit right with me. He'll have the opportunity to help wash that away with a win over Jimmy Crute.

“The fact that he beat Paul Craig, the fact that he submitted Paul Craig – that offers a lot to me,” Hill said. “For me, as a test. I want that. I want that back.”
