James Harden pieced together a New Year’s Eve fireworks show at the expense of the New York Knicks and opened a new chapter in the record books.

The Houston Rockets defeated the Knicks 122-129, but the show was all about Harden.

Just one night after joining the eight-man 30-10-10-5 club, Harden became the very first player in NBA history to post a 50-15-15 game and ended with a 53-point career high.

He also tied Wilt Chamberlain as the player with most points in a triple-double effort.

Harden scored his points on just 17 field goal attempts, while the Rockets managed to make over 20 three-pointers for the fifth time this season.

The Rockets sit at number three in the Western Conference standing, while scoring 114.9 points per game — just three points behind the Golden State Warriors.

The year has been kind to Harden who will have a difficult case to vote against in the race for MVP, as long as the Rockets continue to win.
